Idyllically located on an island outside Bergen, you will find one of the most exotic attractions in the archipelago of Western Norway. The culinary journey starts at the moment you enter the boat at the historic Bryggen Wharf, located right in the city centre. On the 25-minutes boat trip to Holmen you can enjoy spectacular views of the fjord, mountains, skerries and the bustling life along the coast.
Cornelius is one of Scandinavias most prestigiously seafood restaurants. Inspired by the weather of the day and the raw beauty of the local fjords, Cornelius serves a Meteorological Menu, prepared using innovative culinary techniques and with a genuine passion for seafood.

Fancy a starter?
Have you ever tried eating sea urchins right from the shell?
In the surrounding fjords, and along the coastline of Western Norway, the sea offers world-class shellfish. Scalmarin, located in Øygarden, exports sea urchins, mahogany clams, Norwegian native flat oysters and other delicacies to renowned restaurants worldwide, and every single day they are being discovered by new markets all over the world. It seems like every food enthusiast wants hand-picked seafood from Sotra. It is only at Cornelius that the seafood is delivered on the quay by local divers.
Personally, we prefer to enjoy our shellfish raw – and straight from the sea. Hence the name RAWbar. We introduce new species, which some of us did not even know was edible, and we are confident that you will get a new view of shellfish during this 30-minute session. Let the taste buds be seduced by these local delicacies – carefully prepared by chefs with a genuine passion for seafood and local produce.

Based on the weather of the day and what is caught by the local fishermen. All dishes are prepared using innovative culinary techniques and with a genuine passion for seafood. On the Meteorological Menu you get to taste both shellfish and fish in addition to a seasonal desert.

Dinner
Aiming for an extraordinary seafood experience? For those who prefer shellfish rather than fish, we recommend our Meteorological Shellfish Tower. The content on the tower is tailored by the chefs on a daily basis, based on the weather of the day and what is caught by the local fishermen. Examples can be hand-picked mahogany clams, horse mussels, native Norwegian flat oysters, scallops and sea urchins. As a starter we serve our signature dish, littoral crab soup. The flavors depends on the weather and the mood of the kitchen team. On a hot summer day, a lighter soup is served, while the chefs are usually generous with spices when the autumn storms are raging at their worst. In the end, we serve classics such as shrimps, mussels, lobster and Norwegian brown crab. Experience seafood extravaganza with these magnificent delicacies of the sea! A seasonal desert is included in the price.

Natural cooling from the sea
We are proud to present our wine cave, «Vingrotten». The cave contains more than 8000 bottles, carefully selected from exciting winemakers from all over the world, to be a perfect match with seafood. Our stock varies from the most renowned appellations to those we consider up and coming, from the old world to the new world. Carved into the mountain behind the restaurant, with natural cooling from the sea, «Vingrotten» has perfect conditions for storing of wine. All our guests are welcome to visit the wine cave accompanied by one of our sommeliers. We believe that a guided tour in «Vingrotten» will educate your mind and delight your senses.

Would you like a different experience during winter season? We invite you to celebrate in a maritime, warm and cozy environment on our little islet. Our head chef and his team prepare a meteorological winter menu out of the ordinary.

Seafood Extravaganza
When the day slows down and it is time to enjoy the light Norwegian nights, the optimal dinner experience is to board a boat and head out into the world famous Norwegian Fjords for an unforgettable culinary seafood experience! We offer several concepts for groups.
On arrival, the guests are welcomed on the quay with fresh scallops, sea urchins, oysters, smoked wild salmon and other delicious seafood. The chefs present and offers samples from the water tanks. The entire restaurant can be private and the guests can wander between different raw food bars, interact with the chefs and learn about these magnificent delicacies of the sea.
Guests may also book a private venue, and dine in 6 different areas of the restaurant. Here, the guests can enjoy a sit down meteorological seafood dinner, tailored on a daily basis, based on the weather of the day and what is caught by the local fishermen.
The quay bar is an informal meeting place to start off the evening.

Capacity 114 guests
Located on the 2nd floor of the main building. Suitable for both conferences and banquets. The design combines the modern with the rustic, and large windows from ceiling to floor creates a feeling of getting the sea and nature up close. Private bar, fireplace and terrace.
Capacity 36 guests
Flottøren is located on the north side, on the 2nd floor of the main building, with scenic views towards Sotra and the gateway to Bergen. This room has a modern design and a private balcony, – and is well suited for both business meetings and private dinners.
Capacity 56 guests
Havsalongen is our main restaurant, located on the 1st floor of the original building. This venue is mainly used for seating of individual guests. However, it can also be offered as a private room for larger groups. The spot lights in the sea just outside the large windows, enables the guests to sit by their tables and observe the scenic sea life.
Capacity 24 guests
Vip-Nipp is a popular room for smaller groups. It is affiliated with Havsalongen, located on the north side of Holmen, with lovely views towards Sotra and the gateway to Bergen. Vip-Nip has its own display kitchen, and it is also used for arranging shellfish courses where the guests get to prepare their own shellfish platters.
Capacity 24 guests
Located on the 1st floor of the ”Glass House”. A rustic and distinctive room, which is excellent if you prefer a casual atmosphere. It is located on the dock, with large sliding doors that can be opened up if the weather permits it. Utværet even has its own boathouse kitchen and bar.
Capacity 40 guests
Skjæret is located on the 2nd floor of the ”Glass House”. Both the glass walls and the ceiling can be fully opened, – allowing the guests to enjoy outdoor seating when the weather permits it. Skjæret has a casual and relaxed atmosphere in a rustic and maritime environment.
